Why did this team suck so bad? In Seguin, Point and Teravainen, some very good high end guys and good, young depth after that. I see good potential upside in all of his forward keepers and no obvious weak points. I look at the tossaways at forward and think they might all end up getting redrafted.

I think Colin Miller is a keeper if only because of Nate Schmidt's suspension. Boy's gonna get mad minutes for the first quarter of the year. Karlsson's gonna get a million points and a healthy baby this year, just you watch. Shattenkirk is going to funk his jam after a down year, although maybe he'll never get back to past glory on a bad New York team.

The reason I think he goes young one more year is that his prospects are nothing special, particularly for a team in a rebuild. Lebanc would be a perfect prospect for a contending team (MISSED TRADE OPPORTUNITY), because he can immediately step in and score 45-50 points and fill in the bottom of the roster, but he's not a long term keeper. Same goes for Sanheim, except probably worse because he's got more work to do in his depth chart.

I think that this team will live and die by its draft, and in particularly GMGP's drafting philosophy. I think he needs to choose to go one way or the other. He may be able to draft an elite offensive prospect, and may also be able to draft a 30 something point per game player. I have a sneaking suspicion that he goes young one more time to try to find another diamond or two, in particular a prospect defenceman.

Projected finish: 12th.
